Provide supporting documentation for monthly billing for government contracts. Complete account reconciliations pertaining to government contracts. Maintain job costing system pertaining to government contracts and establish new job costing projects. Ensure accounting systems and general ledger accounts are adequate to tract direct and indirect costs according to Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
Under consultative direction toward long-range goals and objectives, this position exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives for developing, implementing and/or maintaining compliant accounting practices and training. Essential responsibilities include:
Supervise the Government Accounting group reporting to Controller
Responsibility for CAS Disclosure Statement and CAS compliance issues.
Develop and provide training, leadership and up to date guidance related to compliance and regulatory changes.
Coordination and support with internal auditors as well as tracking and monitoring the progress.
Develop and implement internal compliance programs to ensure compliance with FAR and CAS, including self governance and readiness reviews.
Provide audit support to DCAA auditors and DCMA representatives for many different types of annual and systems audits and provide support/guidance to other departments when preparing for and during DCAA/DCMA audits.
Financial analyses and other projects as assigned.
Bachelor’s or Masters degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline. 5 or more years of progressive experience including extensive government accounting and liaison experience. Must demonstrate a detailed expertise of government accounting and experience demonstrating a broad application of those concepts, as well as a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles, cost accounting standards, and FAR. Must possess leadership skills with the ability to organize, plan, schedule, perform, and coordinate work assignments to meet project milestones or established completion dates. Must possess: (1) the ability to identify issues, analyze and interpret data and develop innovative solutions to a variety of unusually complex issues or problems; (2) the ability to understand new concepts quickly and apply them accurately throughout an evolving environment; (3) excellent analytical, verbal and written communication skills to accurately document, report, and present findings; (4) excellent interpersonal skills to influence, guide and provide leadership to less experienced professionals; (5) the ability to contribute to the development of new processes or systems and communicate new concepts; (6) the ability to effectively and efficiently initiate, plan, and manage projects; (7) the ability to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; (8) the ability to represent the organization as a knowledgeable resource on internal and external projects and interface with senior management and senior external parties including government representatives; and (9) excellent computer skills. The ability to work independently or in a team environment is essential as is the ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
