Geri-Fit Company LLC is a well-established 19-year old fitness company that offers strength training exercise classes throughout southern California. We are expanding and opening 10 new locations in the summer of 2013 in Riverside, Menifee, Laguna Niguel, Lake Forest, Rancho Santa Margarita, Irvine, Tustin, Newport Beach, Long Beach, Placentia and other nearby cities.
Our company is looking for energetic and caring instructors that know how to lead a group exercise class. Prior experience is helpful, and you must be very familiar with weight training exercises such as squats, lunges, overhead press, dumbbell flyes, lateral raises, dumbbell row, stationary lunges, triceps extension and other strength training exercises that are done with dumbbells.
We offer two types of classes: Geri-Fit® -- a strength training exercise class for older adults ages 65 and over, and Body Sculpting™ -- a one hour workout with weights for those that are 18 and over.
You must honest, very outgoing, team minded, and safety-conscious. You will be walking around the room and providing one-on-one instruction to students that are having a hard time following along or that are having difficulty learning how to do the exercises. So, this position is like being a personal fitness trainer but in a group setting.
We will select candidates that are already certified by a recognized fitness organization such as NSCA, ACSM, AFFA, ACE, W.I.T.S. and other recognized certifying organizations. Candidates should have at least three years experience either teaching group exercise classes, and/or five years experience with personal fitness training. Or, if your degree is in Exercise Science, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Kinesiology, or Nursing you may also apply. For consistency standards, all candidates will successfully complete a one-day certification workshop before you will be able to teach our exercise programs.
This position is strictly part-time on a contractual basis. Contracts to teach are a minimum of two hours and up to 10 hours a week depending on your availability. All instructors are considered independent contractors (1099 contractor), not employees of the company. We have mornings, afternoons and evening time slots available in all major cities throughout Orange County and Riverside County. All instructors must agree to undergo a LiveScan test as a condition to instruct classes for our company.
To apply, go online at gerifit.com and click on the tab that says "Teach For Us", or click this link to be taken to the application page: http://www.gerifit.com/gerifit/employment.asp
Once we receive your application, someone will be in touch with you within one week. When applying for the position, please answer "why you would make a great Geri-Fit® instructor" in your cover letter, and indicate the specific city where you'd like to teach class as well as your available times to teach, i.e., mornings, afternoons or evenings. Rate of pay is determined by experience and credentials. Please specify your salary requirements in the Comments section of the application. All candidates must have reliable transportation.
You can also send your resume with letter of Interest to: Geri-Fit Company LLC, P.O. Box 2522, Temecula, CA 92593. We are an equal opportunity employer.
For locations outside of southern California, the Geri-Fit® program can be purchased by entrepreneurial individuals, physical therapy centers, wellness studios, senior centers, health clubs and other locations that offer group exercise classes for older adults.
